Rental licensing / registration

Yes, for regulated rental units: a dwelling unit occupied by three to five unrelated people under one rental agreement. An owner or manager may not operate one without a valid, current license from the city, or let occupancy exceed the limit on the license. Each license runs for one year, each unit gets at least one inspection a year, and an annual license and inspection fee is due before the license is issued or renewed. Repeat violations carry fines, and after a third offense the owner must begin evicting the occupants.
