Rental licensing / registration

Yes. No rental occupancy may exist in any dwelling until the owner has a rental registration from the Chief Building Inspector; it is a defense if the occupants are the owner's immediate family (§ 82-10). Registrations are valid for 15 months (§ 82-2), and a nonrefundable application fee set by Town Board resolution is due with each application or renewal (§ 82-5). LLCs, corporations and partnerships must have a valid registration whenever the dwelling is occupied.
