Rental licensing / registration

Yes. Every building or part of one that is rented or held for rent must be registered by the owner with the rental housing coordinator before the required certificate is issued, and every two years after that, whatever the length of the rental (§ B16-23). A state DCA registration for rooming/boarding homes or multiple dwellings, or a Princeton short-term rental permit, satisfies the requirement. Failing to register, giving false information, or accepting rent while a unit is unregistered are each separate violations, counted per unit (§ B16-32).
