Crime-free housing & nuisance rental rules
Under the chronic nuisance property rules, the person in charge must pay reasonable relocation costs to a tenant who moved in, without actual notice, after the nuisance notice or closure action. The code states: "The person in charge shall pay reasonable relocation costs of a tenant as defined by ORS 90.100(31) if, without actual notice, the tenant moved into the property after either: 1. A person in charge received a notice from the chief's determination that the property may be nuisance property; or 2. A person in charge received notice of an action brought to close a chronic nuisance property." (§ 9.04.540).
