Rental licensing / registration

Tucson does not run its own rental registry. Tucson Code § 16-21 requires owners of residential rental property to keep their information on file with the county assessor, mirroring Arizona's statewide requirement (A.R.S. § 33-1902). Required information: owner name, address and phone; for entities, a statutory agent and an officer, partner, member or trustee; the street address and parcel number; and the year built. Updates are due within 10 days of a change, and out-of-state owners must name an in-state statutory agent. A rental may not be occupied unless the information is on file. Penalty: a $1,000 civil infraction plus $100 a month until compliance, dismissed if the owner complies within 10 days of the complaint. The city may inspect a property whose owner fails to comply with A.R.S. § 33-1902 (§ 16-22).
