Back to quick facts ↑Rental licensing / registration
Arlington's Uniform Housing Code requires an annual multi-family license (Art. XIV, § 1401). No one may own, manage, rent or make available a multi-family structure without a license from the City Manager's designee, and each location needs its own. Applications list owners, managers, lien holders, registered agents and insurers, with ID copies, proof of ownership and insurance, a local contact and an emergency contact. A new license is required within 30 days of a change of ownership or of the information. License holders must attend annual code and crime-prevention training. Licenses can be put on probation, suspended or revoked. Violations are misdemeanors or civil violations, fined up to $500 a day, or up to $2,000 for fire-safety, zoning or health offences (Art. XV). The Vacant Structure Registration chapter separately covers vacant structures. A full-text search of all 61 code chapters, the charter and 11 uncodified ordinances found no other long-term rental registration or license. The search found no registration or license requirement for single-family or duplex rentals; the only other rental permit is for short-term rentals (Short-Term Rental chapter).

Back to quick facts ↑Just-cause eviction
A full-text search of the whole Arlington Code (all 61 chapters, the City Charter and 11 uncodified ordinances, from the city's official PDFs, 2026-10-15) found no just-cause eviction ordinance. 'Just cause' and 'termination of tenancy' do not appear. 'Good cause' appears only in permitting, utility, court and similar contexts, and 'evict' only in the Animals chapter (impounding or abandoning an animal after an owner's eviction). Evictions follow Texas Property Code ch. 24.
