Washington Repair and deduct
Can a tenant fix something and deduct it from rent in Washington?
After written notice and a good-faith estimate, if the landlord doesn't start repairs in the required time, the tenant may hire a licensed or qualified person and deduct up to two months' rent per repair (and two months' rent total per 12 months). Repairs the tenant does personally are limited to one month's rent.
