Nebraska Abandoned property
What can a landlord do with property a tenant leaves behind in Nebraska?
If the tenant abandons the unit, the landlord takes possession and must make reasonable efforts to re-rent. Absence without notice for one full rental period or 30 days, whichever is less, is abandonment. Disposition of personal property left behind is not addressed in the URLTA. The URLTA does give a deceased tenant's authorized person 20 days to claim property (§ 76-1414).
