Iowa Abandoned property
What can a landlord do with property a tenant leaves behind in Iowa?
If the tenant abandons the unit, the landlord must make reasonable efforts to re-rent at a fair rental. The lease ends when a new tenancy begins or as of the date the landlord has notice of the abandonment. The URLTA does not set the disposal procedure for belongings left behind.
