Short-term rentals (Airbnb)

Yes. Anyone renting a dwelling for less than 30 days must register each short-term rental with the CBJ Sales Tax Office before offering it for rent, renew every year, and show the registration number on every listing (CBJC 69.40.020). Renting or offering an unregistered short-term rental is prohibited, and each day counts as a separate violation (CBJC 69.40.030); Ordinance 2025-23(b)(am) amended the per-violation penalty to $100. Hosting platforms must also report Juneau listings and their registration numbers. Hotels that keep a register under CBJ chapter 20.10 are exempt (CBJC 69.40.040). STR stays also owe sales and hotel-room tax.
