Massachusetts Early termination (DV/military)
Can a tenant break a lease early for domestic violence or military service in Massachusetts?
A tenant may end a tenancy with written notice if a household member is a victim of domestic violence, rape, sexual assault or stalking (within the past 3 months) or reasonably fears imminent serious harm. The tenant must move out within 3 months of the notice, and rent liability ends 30 days or one rental period after moving out.
