Maryland Just-cause eviction
Does a landlord need just cause to evict in Maryland?
The state landlord-tenant statute (Md. Code, Real Prop. tit. 8 (Landlord and Tenant), §§ 8-101 to 8-710, read in full on 2026-10-16) has no provision on a general just-cause (good-cause) requirement for ending a tenancy. Local ordinances or other state or federal laws may still apply.
