Rental licensing / registration
Rental buildings found substandard (code violations not corrected after notice) must be registered with the Building Commission; this is not a general registry of all rentals. Indiana caps rental registration fees (IC 36-1-20-5). The code states: "(A) Each substandard building located within the City used for the purpose of erecting or maintaining a rental dwelling thereon is required to be registered with the Building Commission" (§ 15.16.040).
