Wisconsin Rental inspections

Can the city inspect my rental property in Wisconsin?

Wisconsin local governments may require rental inspections only on complaint, under a district inspection program (areas with blight, high code violations, falling values or rising rental conversions), or where other law requires. Program inspection fees are capped ($75, $90 initial, $150 later), and no fee is allowed if no violation is found or it is fixed in time. Statute text (no city, village, town, or county may enact an ordinance that): "Requires that a rental property or rental unit be inspected except upon a complaint by any person, as part of a program of inspections under subd. 1m." (Wis. Stat. § 66.0104(2)(e)1.-2.).
