Vermont Rental inspections
Can the city inspect my rental property in Vermont?
Vermont runs a statewide, complaint-driven rental housing inspection system through the Commissioner of Public Safety. After a violation is found, the landlord may not rent the affected unit to a new tenant until it is corrected. Statute text: "the Commissioner shall design and implement a complaint-driven system to conduct inspections of rental housing" (20 V.S.A. § 2677).
