Property manager licensing in Texas

Managing rentals for others generally requires a Texas real estate license: a "broker" includes a person who, for another and for a fee, controls the acceptance or deposit of rent from a resident of a single-family rental (§ 1101.002(1)(A)(x)), and acting as a broker without a license is prohibited. Statute text: "Unless a person holds a license issued under this chapter, the person may not: (1) act as or represent that the person is a broker or sales agent; or (2) act as a residential rental locator" (Tex. Occ. Code §§ 1101.002(1), 1101.351(a)).
