Property manager licensing in North Carolina

In North Carolina, a person who leases or rents real estate for others for compensation is a "real estate broker," and G.S. 93A-1 makes acting as a broker without a Real Estate Commission license unlawful. Statute text: "or who leases or offers to lease, or who sells or offers to sell leases of whatever character, or rents or offers to rent any real estate or the improvement thereon, for others" (N.C. Gen. Stat. §§ 93A-1, 93A-2(a)).
