Michigan Repairs and habitability remedies
What can a tenant do if the landlord won't make repairs in Michigan?
For breach of the covenants of habitability and fitness, depending on the circumstances a tenant may sue for breach of contract, make repairs and deduct the cost from rent, or withhold rent. The landlord's breach is also a defense to eviction.
