Massachusetts Ending a month-to-month tenancy
How much notice is needed to end a month-to-month tenancy in Massachusetts?
A tenancy at will can be ended by either party with written notice. When rent is paid monthly, the notice must equal the interval between rent days or 30 days, whichever is longer, so at least one full rental period. Otherwise, three months' notice is required.
