Maryland Rent increase notice
How much notice does a landlord need to give to raise the rent in Maryland?
The Maryland Tenants' Bill of Rights (effective Oct. 1, 2026) says rent may be raised only at lease renewal. In most cases the landlord must give 90 days' written notice, unless the notice comes with a notice of intent to terminate. Electronic notice is allowed only if the tenant agreed to it.
