Eviction record sealing in Maryland

In Maryland, the District Court must shield all records of a failure-to-pay-rent case within 60 days after it ends if it did not result in a judgment of possession. If it did, the tenant can ask the court to shield the records after paying to redeem the tenancy and waiting at least 12 months, or for good cause. Shielded records open only at the tenant's written request or by court order. Statute text: "Within 60 days after the final resolution of a failure to pay rent proceeding, the District Court shall shield all court records relating to the proceeding if the proceeding did not result in a judgment of possession." (Md. Code, Real Prop. § 8–503).
