Domestic violence early termination in Maryland
A tenant may end future liability under the lease if the tenant or a legal occupant is a victim of abuse (as defined in the Family Law domestic violence statute) by giving the required written notice. The tenant then has 30 days to move out and owes rent only until moving out, up to 30 days. Code text: "a tenant may terminate the tenant’s future liability under a residential lease if the tenant or legal occupant is a victim of abuse."
