District of Columbia Lease renewal / non-renewal notice
Does a landlord have to give notice before not renewing a lease in District of Columbia?
A tenant can't be evicted just because the lease or rental agreement has expired, as long as they keep paying the rent the housing provider is entitled to. Any eviction for a reason other than nonpayment needs a written notice to vacate that meets the statute's requirements.
