Connecticut Retaliation protections

Last reviewed 2026-10-15

Is landlord retaliation illegal in Connecticut?

For 6 months after a tenant acts in good faith (reports code violations to officials or the fair rent commission, a municipal agency cites a violation, the tenant requests repairs, brings a 47a-14h action, or joins or organizes a tenants' union), the landlord may not sue for possession, demand a rent increase, or cut services. See § 47a-20a for exceptions.
