Wisconsin Short-term rentals (Airbnb)
What are the Airbnb / short-term rental rules in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin local governments may not ban rentals of 7 consecutive days or longer, though for stays of 7 to 29 days they may cap rentals at no fewer than 180 days a year. Operators renting more than 10 nights a year must get a state tourist rooming house license, and a local license if the municipality requires one. Statute text: "a political subdivision may not enact or enforce an ordinance that prohibits the rental of a residential dwelling for 7 consecutive days or longer" (Wis. Stat. § 66.1014(2)).
