Wisconsin Criminal & credit history rules
Can a landlord deny a tenant for criminal or credit history in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin bars cities, villages, towns and counties from passing ordinances that stop or limit a landlord from getting and using a tenant's or applicant's credit information, income, occupation, rental history or public court records (including arrest and conviction records), or that limit how far back a landlord may look at credit, conviction or housing history. Statute text: "Limits how far back in time a prospective tenant’s credit information, conviction record, or previous housing may be taken into account by a landlord." (Wis. Stat. § 66.0104(2)(a)1.-2.).
