South Dakota Property manager licensing
Property manager licensing in South Dakota
In South Dakota, renting, managing or leasing real property for another for compensation is broker activity (SDCL 36-21A-6), which requires an active license from the real estate commission. Owners and their regular employees managing the owner's own property are exempt (36-21A-29). Statute text: "No person, unless exempted under this chapter, may offer, attempt or agree to perform, or perform any act enumerated within this chapter without an active license issued by the commission" (SDCL 36-21A-6, 36-21A-28).
