New Hampshire Rent withholding / escrow
Can a tenant withhold rent for repairs in New Hampshire?
In an eviction for nonpayment, the tenant has a defense if the unit has substantial health and safety code violations that materially affect habitability, the tenant gave notice while not behind on rent, and the landlord didn't fix them within 14 days. The court can continue the case up to a month and requires the tenant to pay withheld rent into court.
