Maine Eviction court process & timeline
How does the eviction court process work in Maine?
An eviction (forcible entry and detainer) starts with a summons and complaint served like other civil cases. After 3 good-faith service attempts on different days, the landlord may mail them and leave them at the home. Residential tenants must get the court's plain-language form notice explaining the process.
