Louisiana Lockouts and utility shutoffs
Can a landlord change the locks or shut off utilities in Louisiana?
The LA AG guide says a landlord cannot legally evict without the court procedure. A landlord who locks the tenant out, puts possessions on the street, or otherwise takes the law into their own hands may be liable for wrongful-eviction damages.
