Indiana Guest & occupancy limits
Guest & occupancy limits in Indiana
Indiana law lets a landlord refuse to rent based on a reasonable occupancy standard. A standard is presumed reasonable if it allows two people per bedroom, does not count infants under 1 year, and also counts a den, library, finished basement or loft that could reasonably be used for sleeping (unless that would break state or local codes). Kitchens, dining rooms, living rooms, bathrooms, hallways and closets need not be counted. Statute text: "it permits two (2) individuals per bedroom" (Ind. Code § 32-31-8-7).
