Illinois Eviction record sealing
Eviction record sealing in Illinois
A court may seal an eviction file if the landlord's case was sufficiently without basis in fact or law and sealing is clearly in the interests of justice. Sealing is mandatory for certain foreclosure-related cases, and from Jan. 1, 2026 also for cases dismissed under § 9-106 (P.A. 104-317). Cases filed during the COVID-19 period are sealed under § 9-122.
