Georgia Lockouts and utility shutoffs
Can a landlord change the locks or shut off utilities in Georgia?
During an eviction case, a landlord may not knowingly and willfully cut off utilities (heat, cooling, light, water) until the judge makes a final decision. If the landlord pays the utilities, PSC-regulated electric providers must give tenants at least 5 days' written notice before a shutoff.
