District of Columbia Ending a month-to-month tenancy
How much notice is needed to end a month-to-month tenancy in District of Columbia?
A tenant may not be evicted, even after the lease expires, as long as the tenant keeps paying the rent the housing provider is entitled to. An eviction requires a written notice meeting statutory requirements and a ground listed in the statute. So a landlord cannot end a month-to-month tenancy simply by giving notice.
