California Move-in/move-out checklist
Is a move-in or move-out inspection checklist required in California?
Before move-out, the landlord must tell the tenant in writing that they can request an initial inspection and be present for it. If the tenant asks, the inspection takes place no earlier than two weeks before the tenancy ends, with 48 hours' written notice. The landlord must give an itemized list of the proposed deductions so the tenant can fix them. No move-in checklist is required by statute.
